Ever been admired or loved? Isn’t it a magical feeling when someone treats you like a princess and says you are the most beautiful girl in this world. When it is so easy to love others , why is it so difficult to fall in love with yourself?
- I wish I could look like her
- I wish I was that thin
- I wish I had her flawless skin
Why do we keep comparing ourselves with others? Why try to be like someone else ? Isn’t original better than a copy? If you grew up hearing you aren’t good enough, it becomes difficult to believe in yourself. Why are we so cold hearted when it comes to ourselves? Forgive yourself and move on. Isn’t Self acceptance better than self resentment?
Being overweight during my teen years, I have always fantasized myself having a Victoria secret model body someday. I may not look drop dead gorgeous, I may not be an A grade student, but I am empathetic and kind hearted. I have compassion and integrity. I am humble and grounded, but unfortunately all of this doesn’t hold much value in today’s society.
I am tired and sick of being someone else all the time. I won’t lie and say that I am in love with myself, but I am trying to, and that’s a start. Why should I give others a chance to hurt me? Whatever happened, good or bad, Reliving it won’t do me any good. I am not going to allow myself to be controlled by my past or others opinions. Unfortunately, I am my biggest critic. So from now onwards I am going to avoid all the unnecessary negative self talk. I am going to look in the mirror and repeat everyday before going to sleep…… I LOVE YOU. It’s time I start loving myself.
I came across few lines by Joybell C and would like to share it with all of you.
“The only person who can pull me down is myself and I’m not going to let myself pull me down anymore. You may be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don’t know it, all of that doesn’t even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment you use to criticize yourself is a moment of your life wasted and thrown away. “
It took me a lot of time to understand that there is nothing You cannot achieve if you believe in yourself. Do you agree that believing in yourself increases your potentiality? Do you truly love yourself?

So true Sneha. In today’s society, only outer beauty is important and things about inner beauty can only be found in books now and not practiced by anyone in real. Be it a man or woman, both face this equally.
it’s impossible to live a best and peaceful life full of joy and fulfilment if u do not accept and LOVE urself fully.
Dont expect from others to love u when u urself are not loving Ur well being.

Sneha Arohi here Remember me? LOL
And This article is just amazing
If I cannot Love myself What’s the use of Others Loving Us?
In many cases Honestly I have tried to be someone else just because Many Compared Me with Others But Now it is not the same anymore.
I have learn to be myself . Mama Would Say many times What others might think if you are like this?
I would reply : We cannot change everyone’s thinking and I would rather be myself than Living to satisfy others
and This article was all my thoughts
Thank you Feminist Snehu π

Very good post and so true! Maybe it’s the idealist in me but I believe far more people think empathy, kindness, compassion, integrity, humility and being grounded are far more valuable than those who don’t.

I really really admire your efforts that you’re on the way to figure out yourself that you’re beautiful in every aspect. All I say to you is that Please don’t say that Compassion, Integrity and Humbleness is UNFORTUNATELY NOT HOLDING MUCH VALUE in today’s world. They’re everything. And that’s what makes you beautiful. It doesn’t feel good that the things make you beautiful would undervalued.
You’re just in the beginning and a long way to go on. Keep learning new things from your life and experience.π

Excellent article! I agree 100%. There’s also much to be said about how the commercial beauty industry worms it’s way into our psyche, and railroads our confidence unless we buy their product.
I just want to be healthy.

Great write up Sneha, this is the typical thought process goes through most of the young people these days! Yes, it’s not your fault, the world is very shroud and unempathetic these days. We are in the world where we want to mimic others however difficult it is. We are mostly ashamed to be “us”. Thanks to social media which unfortunately works well with this mission.
But at the end of the day, people always know what actually they are. Having said that, there is is still humanity left and there are great people who try to make the difference. But see they don’t advertise. So one has to look for those souls carefully. If you have found someone like that you are lucky just keep them forever. If you don’t, let “you” be the one to be held on.
Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the kind words. It means a lot to know that kindness and humanity still exists. I m on the path to self acceptance and it’s a long road but slowly n steadily I m moving. Yes absolutely. Well said. We are shamed if we try to be the real self

I would start with a quote of one famous actor in my country who, because of his handsomeness, eloquence and success, was an idol of many men and whom these very men tried to copy in every way. He used to say: ‘Please, don’t ever envy me, for you don’t have a clue what burden I have in my soul and mind, what perturbs me and what I am like behind the scene.’
He was absolutely right. There is no such person in the world that is perfect in every sense of the word, either among men, or among women. And it is just this imperfection that makes the world interesting. After all, we can admire beautiful women like we admire some masterpiece, or work of art, or some beautiful spot, but wishing to be in her shoes is impossible and can only fill us with frustration, and frustration is a kind of negative feeling. However, nobody likes to be in the company of persons who spread negativity and the sooner we realize that, the easier will it be for us to accept ourselves the way we are, warts and all. This will help us build our self-confidence. For example, ‘Yes, I have a slightly hooked nose, so what? This nose is mine, but I also have a beautiful smile and I am sociable and honest. All these are parts of my identity.’ If everything were perfect in each women, then all women would just merge with the crowd, but being charismatic and different in one’s own way is something which is far more precious. And that charisma can be achieved only if we are positive regarding ourselves and spread this positive energy around us. Therefore, only ‘in our own shoes’ can we feel most comfortable, not just because we cannot be in ‘someone else’s’, but it is us who know how to walk in them best.

I say that is better to be feared than respectedβ¦..sorry, that was a quote from Al Capone.
Look at you girl, good looking, smart, and you are who you are, so fuck the others, youΒ΄re good, just have to visualize everything in life and believe it even if others donΒ΄t.
